Sam Snoop and the Monster of the Twin Towers

 

SCENE 1: Twin Towers, NYC, September 11, 2001 – morning

 

ESTAB: Twin Towers

MASTER: BILL ROGERS in lab

Rogers looking around as people shout to get out, injects himself, and then flees the buildings

SCENE 2: New York City, 2002 -- evening

 

ETAB: Central Park

MASTER: People walking along path

SCENE 3: Jersey City waterfront, 2005, evening

SCENE 4: Chinatown, New York – day time – present day

MASTER:  SAM SNOOP in front of small shop

 

Sam entering shop

 

MAN comes from behind curtain to greet him.

 

SAM:   I called about the box

 

Man lifts box out and puts it on the counter. Sam pulls it towards him and pulls out a key to lock the box, then lifts out a scroll

 

Shadowy shape of TARGON appears at the door with a gun in his hand

 

TARGON:  I’ll take that, Mr. Snoop

 

 

SCENE 5: New York City – present time – day

 

ESTAB:  Office door on street

MASTER: Sam seated behind desk with WOMAN in front

 

SAM: I don’t know how Targon found out about .

 

WOMAN:  It was a clue to my brother’s whereabouts. The man who gave it to me said I should use it if I need to reach him.

 

SAM: Then I should go talk to that man – since he obviously knows how to reach your brother

 

 

SCENE 6: Thompson Square Park – evening

 

ESTAB: Shot of front gate

 

MASTER: shot of Sam entering park

 

SAM: (talking to BUM #1)

            I’m looking for the Vet

 

BUM #1: Ain’t everybody these days?

 

SAM: It’s important

 

BUM #1:  How important?

 

(Sam produces cash and the bum points to the other side of the park)

           

            He’s over there.

 

(Sam crosses the park until he comes to the VET who is seated on a park bench)

 

SAM: I’m looking for Bill Rogers

 

VET:  You and a shit load of other people

 

SAM: Others?

 

VET:    Spooks. The CIA.  The kind I saw torture people in Nam.

 

SAM:  What did they want?

 

VET:    The same thing you want – to know where he is

 

SAM:   Do you know?

 

VET:   I have a way. But why should I?

 

SAM:  His sister is dying and she wants to see him before she does.

 

VET: (Rising from the bench)

            Come with me.

 

SCENE 7: Jersey City – Day

 

ESTAB: Arch of park

 

MASTER: Sam and Vet passing under it

Shot of marker. Vet digs up a container from the ground, opens it, removes the paper: It says “To Struggle against Terrorism”

 

SAM: Do you know what it means?

 

VET: Haven’t a clue

 

SAM:   But you’re the contact

 

VET:    And this is how he told me to do it. The other times, he came to me – always at night and with a hood over him so I couldn’t see his face

 

SAM:  All right. What do we do now?

 

TARGON ( appears with CIA agents)

            You can hand over that document, too, Mr. Snoop.

            But this time, it will cost you your life

(aims pistol)

 

Vet (knocking the pistol aside)

            Run, Sam!

 

(Sam and Vet flee through the park, pass a newspaper v ending machine. Sam stops, grabs one of the papers. Then breathless, the two of them rest near a wall)

 

VET:    (Looking around the wall)

            I think we lost them. What now?

 

SAM: We go find Rogers

 

VET:  How? That clue makes no sense.

 

SAM:   But it does.

(Sam holds up the paper with a picture of the 9/11 monument)

            Take me to this place

 

 

SCENE 8  Bayonne – day

 

ESTAB: Long shot of the 9/11 memorial

 

MASTER: Same and Vet approaching the monument

SAM:   I never realized just how many died that day.

 

VET:  I know how you feel. I felt the same way the first time I saw the Nam monument in DC.

 

ROGERS: (wearing a hood steps out from behind the monument

            Many more will die if I fail to keep my secret, Mr. Snoop

 

SAM:   What secret is that?

 

ROGERS: (reveals his face – he is a monster)

            I am infected with a weapon so powerful, no one should own it.

            I should have allowed myself to die in the crashing towers, but I injected myself with it instead. Now I hide and must kill to feed my hunger.

 

(Targon and the CIA arrive)

 

            Damn! They’ve found me

 

(Rogers flees. Vet and Sam get into a gun battle around the monument)

 

SAM (shouting to Vet)

            Don’t let Rogers get away!

 

(Vet gives chase. Sam, still shooting, follows)

 

SCENE 9: Meadows – Day

 

ESTAB: shot of a wooden bridge over a creek

 

MASTER: Rogers on the far bank and Sam and Vet reach the bridge

 

SAM: Come back, Rogers.

            We can get you medical help

 

ROGERS:        No doctors. No blood tests

(He pulls a bottle out of his cloak and soaks himself)

                        There can be no trace of me left

(He lights a match and is consumed by flame)

 

 

SCENE 10: New York City – Day

 

ESTAB: Office door

MASTER: Sam behind desk with woman in front

 

SAM:   Your brother’s dead, lady.

            He died on 9/11.

 

WOMAN:  What about the key and the scroll

 

SAM:   A hoax.

            You’re brother’s up in ashes, go mourn him.

 

 

Fade to end.
