Lips II

You say most

Admire your eyes

But I say it is

The lips that

Attract me

The lips that sip

So slowly

At the bar,

Or slant so

Suddenly into a smile,

Lips that give tip

To what ticks

The eyes won’t

Ever give away,

Lips snipped

With bitterness

Of hate or love

Lust for living

Lips that one kiss

Can’t ever cover,

From which

Words slip

From your lips

To my lips

So I sip

Them, too,

It is the lips

That I look at first

Unlike the eyes

They rarely lie
